Our Culture

As a member of the North Shore Healthcare family, our center’s dedicated healthcare professionals strive to deliver quality care to those who have chosen us. Wausau Manor Health Services’ goal is to create an environment that affords our residents the opportunity to be a partner in the care they receive, to develop trusting relationships with our caregivers, and to reach their highest level of independence. We are passionate about making our center The Right Choice for you or your loved one.

Wausau Manor Health Services has been serving Marathon County since 1984. We are located on the bluff above Aspirus Wausau Hospital and are proud to be an Aspirus affiliate. We are very involved with Honor Flight Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring American veterans. In a recent customer satisfaction survey, 100% of our residents indicated that their overall experience was good to excellent and they would choose our center again if the need arose. We are also proud to be on the U.S. News & World Report Best Nursing Home list for 2018.

We recently were awarded a 2019 Bronze – Commitment to Quality Award by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). The Award Program has three levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. As a recipient of the Bronze – Commitment to Quality Award, we may now move forward in developing approaches and achieving performance levels that meet the Silver – Achievement in Quality Award criteria.

Leadership Team

Executive Director – Erica Poole

“Whether the residents come to us for short term rehab or for long term care, it is an honor to become part of each person’s story.”

Rehab Clinical Lead–Michelle Sislo

“We have a great therapy team as well as a strong facility team that are all here for the same reason—to provide the best care possible. I love seeing the progress therapy provides and being a patient advocate helping to come up with solutions to problems the residents may encounter. I feel I am a better person because of the patients I have had the pleasure of working with over the years.”

Admissions–Haley Pogodzinski

“This career is my passion. I am grateful that I am able to make a difference and is able to help shape the future of healthcare and assist in providing residents with the best possible experience and care.”

“The staff at Wausau Manor was courteous, respectful and gave gentle care. They were truly interested in each person individually. I have continued with outpatient therapy here, and would choose Wausau Manor if inpatient therapy should ever be needed again.”

– Marianna Alvarez, Rehab Graduate

“I came to Wausau Manor for rehabilitation following a stroke. My left side was completely paralyzed. After weeks of physical and occupational therapy, I regained my strength and eventually went to Applegate Terrace and continued outpatient therapy. I was able to go home, but still continued with rehabilitation services. On the last day of my therapy, I drove myself, walking independently and even dancing with my wife. I can’t say enough good things about therapy staff at Wausau Manor. They really take an interest in you and very dedicated. I am so happy with the results and will return again if I never need therapy.”

– Arnold Solinsky, Rehab Graduate
